A few years ago I started getting a little chubby. My mind felt foggy. I was out of shape and getting older. I decided to do something about it and started working out and eating better. I’ve always tried to eat fairly well but never really looked too closely at labels or thought too much about what exactly I was putting into my body.
As I started working out more I realized I needed much more protein. I was eating a lot of beef and chicken, drinking shakes, and looking for healthier snacks. My wife, Kathy, had gotten a Ninja Creami and she started making protein ice cream with it. We got a ton of ingredients, tried tons of recipes and eventually found a few that we liked.
But it made me wonder, was there anything out there that was easier? Was there a mix we could whip up quickly the night before? Did I need to test 10+ ingredients or a ton of recipes? We searched but never found it. This was the first idea that sparked CRUSHS.
We continued making our fun creations for a couple of years. Eventually we found a nice mix of various milk powders that we could use as the base for our ice cream each night. A friend of mine saw what I was doing and asked if we could mix some together for him. This was the second spark I needed to start CRUSHS.
Kathy and I scrounged together what we could. We did a ton of research, talked to a bunch of people, and eventually found a co-manufacturer who would work with us and help us get started.
Before CRUSHS I (David) was a UI/UX designer working with companies mostly in the NYC area. I have a decent amount of experience working on websites and am fairly creative. This helped a lot as I was able to create and start this brand and website from the ground up.
During the past few months a lot of you have reached out. I’ve spoken to a lot of you via email or on the phone. The support and the good vibes has been awesome.
